Brother Carlos Rivera ("Tycoon") was born in Puerto Rico on November 8, 1934 and was a resident of the Harbor Area.
Brother Rivera became a longshoreman on August 14, 1969 and loved working on the waterfront all his life. He died in a workplace accident on April 4, 2008 at Berth 87 at the Port of Long Beach. The exact cause of his death remains under investigation.
He is survived by his wife: Juana Rivera, children: Daniel, Carlos Jr., Roy and Virginia, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The ILWU Local 13 Health Benefits Office and the Rivera Family is providing the following information for those who would like to pay their respects to Brother Rivera and his family:
