PCPA President Rich Austin (right) presents the new charter to Manuel Pacheco, President of the San Diego Pensioners group.

Board members of the Pacific Coast Pensioners Association (PCPA) met in San Diego on Sunday, June 10, following the ILWU convention. The first order of business tackled by the board was to issue a charter for the newly-formed San Diego Pensioners group.

“It’s always a pleasure to welcome a new pensioner group into our family – especially in San Diego where we just had a great convention,” said PCPA President Rich Austin.

Other business included passage of a resolution to “Protect and preserve labor’s legacy,” and an in-depth discussion about the need to support our ILWU Political Action Fund. We agreed that our support should only be given to politicians who are true friends of labor and the entire working class.

The upcoming PCPA Convention will be held on September 9-12 at the Doubletree Hotel in San Pedro. All ILWU Pensioners are welcome and encouraged to attend this event, which will feature important discussions and workshops on many topics, plus guest speakers from the ILWU and other unions around the world.
